Comment on the Butte Draft Restoration Plan
The Montana Natural Resource Damages Program (NRDP), which manages restoration funding for the Clark Fork Basin obtained through a lawsuit against the Atlantic Richfield Co. (BP-ARCO), is currently seeking public comments on the draft Butte Area One Restoration Plan. The plans will guide future restoration work in the area, which encompasses most of Uptown Butte, and set priorities for how funds from the ARCO lawsuit will be spent.
A public hearing on the plans will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Thornton Building 2nd Floor Conference Room at 65 E. Broadway in Uptown Butte. Click here for details.
At the public hearing, the BNRC Council Members and/or the NRDP staff will give a short presentation about the draft plan, followed by a brief question and answer period. Then the floor will be opened for the formal comment period. Folks will be asked to step to a microphone, state their name and address for the record, and provide their comments on the draft plan. NRDP asks that comments be kept under 10 minutes. There will be a court reporter at the hearing to record all the comments verbatim. At a later date, NRDP will provide written responses to the comments after the BNRC and NRDP have reviewed, considered and discussed all of them.
Deadline for submitting written comments on the Draft Butte Area One Restoration Plan is 5:00 PM on Friday November 16, 2012.
Copies of the plans are available on the NRDP website or by contacting NRDP at 406-444-0205, or use the link below to download the draft plans directly from CTEC.
Comments can be submitted to NRDP at email@example.com; by fax at 406-444-0236; or mailed to Box 201425, Helena, MT 59620.
