Geographic Information System (GIS)

A Geographic Information System (GIS) electronically manages geographically referenced data. Through GIS, such data can be displayed, assembled, stored, and manipulated, and is frequently displayed in a map format. Examples of the use of GIS include county boundaries, land use, and pollution-monitoring locations.
